BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
I am a Visting Professor of Astrophysics at Imperial College London. My research is mostly focussed on the astrophysics of Black Holes, including effects close to the Event Horizon, and their influence on the wider universe, particulary Galaxy Evolution. Much of my work involves the use of X-ray telescopes such as the Chandra and XMM-Newton observatories. I am also involved in the definition of the next generation of X-ray observatories, in particular the International X-ray Observatory (IXO).
